Dry October leads to delayed sowing - October 2011

Summary
On October 31st, estimates point to widespread delays in preparing the soil for the installation of winter crops. It is expected increases in production of fresh fruit, particularly pear, which should reach a record production of 230 thousand tons. Increases are also expected in rice and maize productions and sunflower. The chestnut should register another poor campaign, with the lowest production of the last decade. In wine, there is a sharp decline in production, but without an impact on quality.
