In the 2nd quarter of 2023, the House Price Index (HPI) grew by 8.7% year-on-year, the same rate of change as in the previous quarter. In this period, the prices of existing dwellings increased at a higher pace than those of new dwellings, 9.0% and 8.0%, respectively.
Compared to the previous quarter, the HPI increased by 3.1% (1.3% in the previous quarter). By category, prices of existing dwellings increased by 3.2%, above what was observed for new dwellings (2.8%).
Between April and June 2023, 33,624 dwellings were transacted with a total value of 6.9 billion euros, a reduction of 22.9% and 16.7%, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the 2nd quarter of 2023, Households acquired 28,732 dwellings (85.5% of the total), for a total of 5.8 billion euros (83.8% of the total). In the reference quarter, housing transactions involving buyers with a tax residence outside the National Territory totalled 2,535 units (7.5% of the total), representing a year-on-year decrease of 8.9%.
