Economic Accounts for Agriculture

Summary
The main purpose of this publication is the dissemination of the macroeconomic data from the Economic Accounts for Agriculture, Base 95. The structure of this publication presents three aspects of the agricultural activity: forecasts for the Agricultural Income for 2001, a long-term series for national values concerning 1986-2000 and regional data for 1995-1999. The main aspects from the analyses of this data are:
• the first forecast for the Income from agricultural activity per full-time worker equivalent is estimated to have increased 9,5% in 2001;
• net entrepreneurial income has increased, in nominal terms, between 1986 and 2000. Its evolution is rather irregular, due to the quality of agricultural years;
• in a general overview, the region of Ribatejo e Oeste presents the highest Gross Value Added for the period 1995-1999, followed by Alentejo.
