This publication contains information on the fishing sector, as well as on some related sectors of the national economy, for 2003. It includes 38 tables with a variety of themes, such as the fish landings by ports, species and NUTS-2, the fishing fleet, the number of licensed fishermen, international trade on the fishing and related activities sector and also information on the manufacturing industries of fishing and aquaculture.
The most important results of year 2003, comparing with 2002, show: a slight increase of fresh and chilled fishery products landings in national ports; a slight increase of the average prices in the Mainland; a decrease of the number of fishing boats; a reduction of the number of fishery workers and an increase of 4% in the Fishery Income, at current prices.
