Summary

The aim of this study is to evaluate the changes in the age structure of mortality caused by HIV/AIDS over the period 1988-2004, in Portugal. Based on the official statistics we try to analyse the trends of disaggregated data by sex and age. The immutable characteristics, such as over mortality of males and others that changed over time, e.g., the ages with the highest frequency of deaths due to HIV are highlighted.
