Summary
The trade turnover index recorded a year-on-year increase of 1.5% in May, reflecting a slowdown of 3.2 percentage points (p.p.) compared with the value observed in the previous month. Retail trade and wholesale trade decelerated 2.0 p.p. and 3.4 p.p., respectively, to year-on-year rates of 3.2% and -1.0%. Trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles sector also slowed down 5.7 p.p. to a 4.8% year-on-year increase in May.
Employment, wages and hours worked adjusted for calendar effects indices recorded year-on-year changes of -0.2%, 6.3% and 0.6% in May, respectively (1.3%, 7.0% and 1.2% in April).
