Gross Domestic Product in volume increased by 2.5% in year-on-year terms and by 0.8% comparing with the previous quarter - 2nd Quarter 2026
30 July 2026

Summary

Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in volume, recorded a year-on-year growth rate of 2.5% in the second quarter of 2026, following an increase of 2.4% growth in the previous quarter. The positive contribution of domestic demand to the year on year growth rate of GDP decreased due to the slowdown of investment, while private consumption accelerated. Net external demand registered a less negative contribution, as exports of goods and services accelerated more intensely than imports of goods and services.

Compared to the first quarter of 2026, GDP in volume increased by 0.8%, after a rate of change of 0.1% in the previous quarter. The contribution of net external demand to the quarter-on-quarter rate of change of GDP turned positive, as imports of goods and services slowed down more significantly than exports of goods and services. The contribution of domestic demand remained positive, but lower than in the first quarter, with a decrease in investment and an acceleration in private consumption.
