Summary
In October the Business Climate Indicator remained unchanged from the two previous months level, standing at the maximum since September 2004. The confidence levels in manufacturing industry deteriorated, discontinuing the improvement seen over the last four months. The services confidence indicator stabilised in October at a level above the series average. As regards trade, confidence recovered, as in the two previous months, which was chiefly due to wholesale trade, although retail trade also improved slightly. In construction and public works, the confidence indicator deteriorated, thus offsetting improvements observed in August and September, and resumed the level reached in July, the lowest since December 2003. In October the consumer confidence indicator recovered again, continuing the upward trend started in February.
