From January to November 2004 the year-on-year change in exports and imports was 6.8% and 16.3% respectively, determining a widening of 31.8% in trade deficit with third countries. In November 2004 new orders received by industrial firms declined by 7.4% from the same period in the previous year, chiefly as a result of the broadly based fall in domestic demand.
