In 2024, the value of Services Provided to Enterprises (SPE) grew by 11.6% (+3.7 p.p. above the total for non-financial companies), reaching EUR 32.7 billion, although slowing down by 3.0 p.p. compared to 2023. Gross Value Added (GVA) increased by 12.2% (+16.5% in 2023), to EUR 20.4 billion euros, thus recording a variation 4.9 p.p. greater than that of the total of non-financial companies. The Gross Operating Surplus (GOS) grew by 19.6% (+14.1% in 2023), amounting to EUR 5.6 billion (variation 15.3 p.p. above than that recorded in total non-financial companies).
These results correspond to 159.7 thousand enterprises (+4.9%; +6.1% in 2023), employing 570,7 thousand persons (+4.5%; +8.0% in 2023). In 2024, all Business Services increased their persons employed, with emphasis on the Marketing research and public opinion polling and Computing sectors standing out with the highest increase (+8.3% and +6.2%, respectively).
Computing services remained the most representative activity, accounting for 37.6% of total services provided (+0.3 p.p. than in 2023). It grew by 12.6% (+15.2% in 2023) and was the activity that most increased the value of GOS (+40.0%) and also of GVA (+15.0%). This was followed by Accounting, auditing and consulting with 25.4% of total services provided (-0.3 p.p. than in the previous year), which grew 10.1% (+13.7% in 2023), increasing its GVA at 11.6% and GOS at 13.5%. Architecture and Engineering, the third most representative activity (14.2% of total services provided), registered the largest increase in the services provided and GVA (+20.8% and +15.6%, respectively), in addition to showing the second largest growth in GOS (+19.9%).
In the total of Business Services sector, the five largest companies accounted for 24.8% of the total services provided in 2024 (as in 2023). By activity, this concentration indicator ranged from a maximum of 80.2% in Publishing services of computer games to a minimum of 6.7% in Architectural activities.
