The tourist accommodation sector accounted for 1.6 million guests (+8.3%) and 3.7 million overnight stays (+6.3%) in January 2025, amounting to EUR 262.0 million in total revenue and EUR 188.9 million in revenue from accommodation (+13.8% and +14.2%, respectively).
Overnight stays by residents increased by 11.3% (-0.2% in December), amounting to 1.3 million, and those by non-residents grew by 3.8% (+4.4% in December 2024), totalling 2.4 million.
Among the top 10 inbound markets in terms of overnight stays in January, the Polish stood out with the largest increase (+16.6%).
The revenue per available room (RevPAR) stood at EUR 33.2 (+10.0%) and the average daily rate (ADR) amounted to EUR 89.3 (+7.3%).
With the release of the data for January 2025, Statistics Portugal starts publishing a single monthly press release, within 30 days, covering all the usual monthly indicators (guests; overnight stays, broken down by residents and non-residents and by main countries; occupancy rates; revenues; RevPAR and ADR; the press release will also include information on all types of accommodation establishments (including camping and holiday camps and youth hostels)).
