Summary
In March 2009, hotel activity registered 2.4 million of overnight stays, accounting for a year-on-year downturn of 22.5%, compared with March 2008.
Total income from hotel activity reached 114.2 million euros and income from hotel occupancy 73.9 million euros, both corresponding to decreases of 21.3% and 22%, respectively.
The international economic crisis and the Easter festival, that in 2008 occurred in March whereas in 2009 was celebrated in April, mainly contributed for the negative outcome in March 2009.
