Summary
In the fourth quarter of 2005 Portuguese residents made a total of 2.9 million trips, 1.8% more than in the same quarter of the previous year. Visits to relatives and friends were the main reason behind most of the trips (43.4%), followed by leisure, recreation and holidays (35.9%). Approximately half of the trips by residents (49.9%) were made in December.
