Summary

The tourist accommodation sector registered 1.7 million guests and 4.2 million overnight stays in November 2022, corresponding to year-on-year rates of change of +19.7% and +19.4%, respectively (+23.6% and +23.8% in October, in the same order). Compared to November 2019, there were variations of -1.0% and +4.3%, respectively.

In November, the domestic market contributed 1.3 million overnight stays and once again registered a positive evolution (+6.3%), after a decrease in October (-3.2%). External markets totalled 2.9 million (+26.4%). Compared to November 2019, there were increases of 0.8% in overnight stays from residents and 5.9% from non-residents, which in the latter case corresponds to the highest growth compared to 2019 since the beginning of the pandemic.

In the first eleven months of 2022, overnight stays increased by 89.4% (+22.4% in residents and +157.7% in non-residents). Compared to the same period of 2019, overnight stays decreased by 1.2% (-5.3% for non-residents and +8.4% for residents).

In November, 31.6% of tourist accommodation establishments were closed or had no movement of guests (35.8% in November 2021).
