In April, the unemployment rate stood at 6.9% and the labour underutilisation rate at 12.9% - April 2021

Summary

March 2021:
• The employed population has increased by 0.6% from the previous month and by 0.4% from three months before and decreased by 0.3% from the same month of 2020.
• The unemployed population has decreased by 3.0% from February 2021 and by 4.1% from December 2020, having increased by 4.9% from March 2020.
• The unemployment rate (concept of the International Labour Organization, ILO) stood at 6.6%, 0.2 percentage points (pp) less than in the previous month, 0.3 pp less than three months before and 0.3 pp more than in the same month of the previous year.
• The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 12.9%, down 0.9 pp from the previous month, down 0.8 pp from three months before and up 0.2 pp from a year earlier.

April 2021:
• The employed population remained practically unchanged from the previous month and increased by 1.0% from three months before and by 1.2% from the same month of 2020.
• The unemployed population decreased by 4.9% from March 2021, by 1.0% from January 2021 and by 9.0% when compared to April 2020.
• The unemployment rate stood at 6.9%, up 0.3 pp from the previous month, the same value from three months before and up 0.5 pp from the same month of 2020.
• The labour underutilisation rate was estimated at 12.9%, remained unchanged from the previous month and decreased by 0.9 pp from January 2021 and by 0.8 pp from a year earlier.
