Summary

In the 3rd quarter of 2019, the unemployment rate stood at 6.1%, the lowest value of the data series started in 2011. That value is 0.2 percentage points (pp) lower than the one from the previous quarter and 0.6 pp lower than that of the same quarter of the previous year.
The unemployed population, estimated at 323.4 thousand people, has decreased by 1.5% (5.1 thousand) from the previous quarter and by 8.3% (29.3 thousand) from the same quarter of 2018.
The employed population (4,947.8 thousand people) recorded a quarterly increase of 0.6% (31.1 thousand) and a year-on-year increase of 0.9% (45.0 thousand).
The youth (15 to 24 years old) unemployment rate stood at 17.9% and has decreased by 0.2 pp from the previous quarter and by 2.1 pp from the same quarter of the previous year. The share of unemployed people looking for a job for 12 months or longer (long-term unemployment) was 52.4%, down 0.7 pp from the previous quarter and up 2.4 pp from the same quarter of the previous year.
