The Consumer Price Index (CPI) annual rate moved from 0.9% in February 2019 to 0.8% in March 2019. The annual core inflation rate, which excludes energy and unprocessed food products, was 0.7% (1.0% in the previous month).
The CPI monthly rate was 1.8% (-0.2% in the previous month and 1.9% in March 2018), while the CPI 12-month average rate was 1.0%, the same value as in the previous month.
In March 2019, the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) annual rate was 0.8% (0.9% in the previous month), 0.6 percentage points (p.p.) below the figure estimated by Eurostat for the Euro area (in the previous month, the difference between the Portuguese and the Euro area was also 0.6 p.p.).
