September's unemployment rate at 6.6% - October 2018

Summary

In September 2018, the unemployment rate was 6.6%, down 0.3 percentage points (p.p.) from the previous month’s level, down 0.2 p.p. from three months before, and down 2.0 p.p. from the same month of 2017. That value corresponds to a null revision of the provisional estimate released one month ago. Since September 2002, no lower unemployment rate was observed.
In comparison to the previous month, the unemployed population has decreased by 5.0% (18.0 thousand fewer people) and the employed population has increased by 0.2% (8.8 thousand more people).
The provisional unemployment rate estimate for October 2018 was 6.7%, up 0.1 p.p. from the previous month’s level.
