Agricultural forecasts
Winter cereals: the lowest sown area over the last hundred years - January 2018
20 February 2018

Summary

Early estimates on January 31 point to an increase in olive for olive oil production (+25% compared to 2016), with intensive olive groves compensating for the lower yields of traditional ones, affected by the persistent meteorological drought. As for the autumn/winter cereals, there was a generalized decrease in sown areas for the fifth consecutive year, with an historical record of 121,000 hectares, the lowest of the last hundred years (since there are systematic records). The plant development is considered normal.
