Main findings of the Characterization of Social Housing survey, for 2015:
There were 120 thousand social dwellings distributed by 26.2 thousand buildings;
There were 1,157 social housing dwellings per 100 thousand inhabitants;
Social housing represented 2% of the total dwelling stock in Portugal;
Average monthly rent in social housing was EUR 56. The renting contracts celebrated in 2015 (within the new regime of urban renting “supported renting”) presented average monthly rents (EUR 113) higher than in the other type of contracts;
There were 19.8 thousand requests for social housing;
The balance between revenue and expenditure in social housing was positive (EUR +14.8 million).
