GVA of non-financial enterprises increased 3.7%, in nominal terms - 2014

Summary

Preliminary data of business statistics for 2014 reinforce the signs of growing in the Portuguese economy. The main economic indicators of non-financial sector recorded positive evolutions in 2014 with the GVA growing 3.7% and the
gross operating surplus 6.9%. SMEs showed a considerable dynamism with a growth rate of 4.6% in GVA compared to 2.1% observed in large companies. However, construction and real estate sector revealed declines in all the main indicators.
Analyzing the interquartile distribution of GVA in non-financial sector it is noteworthy the increase of GVA in all sectors, with half of the companies showing GVA levels in 2014 higher than in 2013.
In 2014, the exporting profile companies represented 32.8% of GVA and 23.2% of the number of persons employed in all non-financial companies, respectively, 1.3 percentage points and 0.6 percentage points more compared to the year 2013.
