House prices up by 5.9% on a year before - 2nd Quarter 2014

Summary
In the second quarter of 2014, the House Price Index (HPI) increased 5.9% when compared with the same quarter of the previous year, a period in which the lowest index value of the HPI series was recorded.
This annual rate of change was 1.9 percentage points (p.p.) higher than the observed in the first quarter of 2014. Compared to the previous quarter, the HPI grew 1.6%.
When compared with a year before, the prices of existing dwellings increased 5.6%. The new dwellings market segment observed a 6.5% price increase over the same period.
The house sales indicator recorded a total of 19,637 transactions in the second quarter of 2014, 1.9% more than in the same period of 2013.
