In 2011, residents in Portugal made 15.2 million tourism trips, 1.2% less than in 2010. "Leisure, recreation or holidays" as a reason to travel weighted less than in 2010, in opposition to "Visit to relatives or friends". Foreign destinations also had a lower expression towards 2010, against destinations within Portugal. The number of overnight stays kept stable when compared with the previous year (68.3 million).
