The Retail Trade Turnover Index (RTTI) 1 went from a year-on-year rate of change of 7.4% in June to 2.6% in July. These results continue to be influenced by a base effect, given that the comparison focuses on months affected by the pandemic (in July 2020, the year- on-year rate of change was -1.5%). It should be noted that the year-on-year rate of change in the RTTI in July 2021 was 1.1 percentage points (p.p.) higher than in July 2019. The following year-on-year rates of change were also recorded in July 2021: • Employment index: 1.0% (1.3% in June); • Wages and salaries index: 4.0% (8.0% in June); • Hours worked index 2 : 3.3% (10.7% in June). The month-on-month rate of change in the RTTI in July was -0.4% (-1.9% in June).
