speaking African Countries and Timor-Leste” for the
reinforcement of the NSS and for the development of
statistical capacity in CPLP countries. The constant
exchange of experiences between the CPLP NSIs along
with the South-South cooperationhave been assuming
a significant role, aiming to the exchange of
methodological and technological knowledge
between experts. The production of current statistics
(CPI, short-term indicators, National Accounts,
External Trade, and short-term economic analysis),
and the implementation of the Population Census, are
areas where the exchange of experiences and the
capacity/training will be transversal elements in these
priorities.
prioritárias e, a maior parte delas, serão incluídas no
plano de atividades do INE. Tendo emconta os grandes
desafios que se aproximam identificámos, entre as
grandes prioridades, o Recenseamento Geral da
População e Habitação. A par disso destacamos
igualmente o módulo de elaboração das Contas
Nacionais, Contas Regionais e Provinciais, o Inquérito
à Construção e Habitação, as Estatísticas de curto
prazo, enquadradas no Inquérito à Produção Industrial

4. During the 5 Statistical Conference of the CPLP, NSI-
Angola has signed a Memorandum of Understanding
with Statistics Portugal for the next three years which
will involve several areas of intervention. Can you tell
us which areas will be more important for NSI-Angola
during the first year of implementation?
This Memorandum, as well as the one signed with NSI-
Mozambique and the one that will be signed with NSI-
Cape Verde, covers priority actions and most of them
will be included in the NSI Activity Plan. Given the great
challenges approaching, we have identified, amongst
the main priorities, the Population and Housing
Censuses. But there are also other important areas
such as national accounts, regional accounts, the
survey on construction and housing, short-term
statistics in the framework of the industrial production
survey, and other activities, such as the exchange of
experiences on the maintenance of Internet and
Intranet Portals and on Library. To sum up, all the
actions foreseen in the Memorandum are important
and will be included in the activity plan, since NSI-
Angola is progressing and needs to achieve the targets
established in its vision, mission and values, to improve
its visibilitywithin theNSS.
