DESPORTO EM NÚMEROS \ 35 Em 2024, existiam 11 684 clubes desportivos (mais 323; +2,8% do que no ano anterior) e 844 186 praticantes (mais 70 341; + 9,1%) inscritos nas Federações desportivas. O futebol foi a modalidade com maior número de praticantes (28,2% do total), seguida da natação (15,2%), do voleibol (7,2%) e do andebol (6,8%). Nas modalidades com maior número de inscritos, os homens predominavam no futebol (92,0%) e no andebol (59,0%). As mulheres destacaram-se na ginástica (90,0%), sendo também maioritárias na prática de patinagem (62,4%), de voleibol (58,3%) e natação (55,9%). Os treinadores inscritos em 2024, nas Federações desportivas totalizavam 27 593, representando um aumento 5,9% em relação ao ano anterior, em que cerca de 6/7 dos treinadores (86,0%) eram homens. No ano referido, as Federações desportivas tinham 19 628 árbitros inscritos (mais 8,4% do que em 2023), onde também predominavam os homens (72,3% do total). Em 2025, existiam 851 praticantes de alto rendimento, dos quais 58,3% eram homens e 41,7% eram mulheres. Do total, cerca de 5/6 tinham idade inferior a 30 anos (84,7% do total). Em 2025, foram emitidos 9 797 títulos profissionais, dos quais 65,9% foram atribuídos a treinadores de desporto, seguidos dos técnicos de exercício físico (25,7%) e dos diretores técnicos (8,4%). Mais de ¾ dos títulos profissionais foram atribuídos a homens, tendo as mulheres sido comtempladas com apenas 22,3% dos títulos. More than ¾ of professional titles were awarded to men, with women receiving only 22.3% of the titles.
