COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 4 Bem-vindos à COOPSTAT 28! Temos o prazer de apresentar a mais recente edição da COOPSTAT, dedicada às atividades de cooperação internacional desenvolvidas entre agosto e dezembro de 2025. Este número reflete o compromisso contínuo do INE com a cooperação, a inovação e a qualidade, bem como o alinhamento com as prioridades da sustentabilidade. Estes princípios e temáticas marcaram as iniciativas de cooperação realizadas neste período, tanto no espaço lusófono, como a nível europeu e global. Cooperação Lusófona em Destaque No âmbito do Programa Estatístico da CPLP, esta edição destaca progressos significativos no Projeto ODS, nomeadamente nos trabalhos preparatórios da publicação “CPLP em números – edição ODS”, e no acolhimento de uma visita técnica de Angola e Cabo Verde sobre Conceitos Estatísticos. A nível bilateral, releva-se a cooperação com Cabo Verde no processo de mudança do ano base do Índice de Preços no Consumidor (IPC). Salienta-se também a participação no Diálogo de Alto Nível de São Tomé e Príncipe, relativo à criação da primeira Conta Satélite do Turismo (CST) neste país. Participação Europeia e Global A nível internacional, o INE marcou presença em iniciativas de relevo, em que as temáticas do turismo, ciência de dados, literacia estatística e sustentabilidade estiveram em destaque. A nível europeu, sublinha-se a participação do INE na 110ª Conferência dos DGINS (Presidentes e Diretores-gerais dos INEs do Sistema Estatístico Europeu), realizada em Split (Croácia), subordinada à temática das Estatísticas do Turismo. A nível global, destaca-se a participação ativa do INE no 65º Congresso Mundial de Estatística do ISI (International Statistical Institute), realizado em Haia (Países Baixos), e nas celebrações do Dia Mundial de Estatística, assinalado também a nível nacional. Ainda no plano global, releva-se a participação do INE em eventos dedicados aos ODS e à Sustentabilidade, nomeadamente no Diálogo SDG Flag Day, por ocasião do Dia Nacional da Sustentabilidade (25 de setembro), e na reunião do Steering Group on Statistics for SDGs da UNECE, em Madrid (Espanha), no âmbito da qual o INE copreside à Task Team on Communication of Statistics for SDGs. We are pleased to present the latest edition of COOPSTAT, dedicated to the international cooperation activities carried out between August and December 2025. This issue reflects Statistics Portugal’s ongoing commitment to cooperation, innovation, and quality, as well as its alignment with sustainability. These principles and topics marked the cooperation initiatives developed during this period, both within the Portuguese-speaking community and at the European and global levels. Portuguese-Speaking Cooperation Within the scope of the CPLP Statistical Programme, this edition highlights significant progress in the SDG Project, notably the preparatory work for the publication “CPLP in Figures – SDG edition”; as well as a technical visit from Angola and Cabo Verde focused on Statistical Concepts. Bilaterally, the support to Cabo Verde in its process of updating the base year for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) is highlighted. We also underline the participation in the High-Level Dialogue in São Tomé and Príncipe regarding the development of the country’s first Tourism Satellite Account (TSA). European and Global Participation Internationally, Statistics Portugal took part in major initiatives centred on tourism, data science, statistical literacy, and sustainability. At the European level, we underline Statistics Portugal’s participation in the 110th DGINS Conference (Presidents and Directors-General of the NSIs of the European Statistical System), held in Split (Croatia), with a focus on Tourism Statistics. Globally, we note Statistics Portugal’s active participation in the 65th ISI (International Statistical Institute) World Statistics Congress, held in The Hague (Netherlands), as well as in the celebrations of World Statistics Day, which were also marked at the national level. COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 5 COOPERAÇÃO COM PAÍSES DE LÍNGUA PORTUGUESA COOPERATION WITH PORTUGUESE-SPEAKING COUNTRIES No âmbito da preparação da publicação “CPLP em Números – Edição ODS”, e à semelhança do que tem vindo a ocorrer desde o início do ano, têm sido realizadas reuniões mensais de trabalho com os pontos focais dos Institutos Nacionais de Estatística (INEs) dos países da CPLP. Estes encontros têm-se revelado fundamentais para a recolha e análise de informação estatística proveniente de fontes nacionais e internacionais, bem como para a coordenação do trabalho técnico associado aos indicadores dos Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) disponibilizados pelos Estados-membros. O esforço conjunto tem igualmente permitido aprofundar a discussão, análise e alinhamento dos critérios de recolha de dados anteriormente definidos, reforçando a coerência e a robustez metodológica da publicação. Registaram-se avanços significativos na consolidação da informação dos países numa base de dados comum, de acordo com a harmonização metodológica acordada pelos INEs. Os desafios identificados têm vindo a ser largamente superados, com todos os países empenhados em melhorar a disponibilidade dos indicadores, reforçando a consistência e qualidade da publicação. Os países da CPLP mantêm-se comprometidos com o reforço da disponibilidade dos indicadores e com a implementação das próximas fases deste importante projeto coletivo. As part of the preparation of the publication “CPLP in Figures – SDG Edition”, monthly working meetings have continued to be held with the focal points of the National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) of the CPLP member countries, as has been practice since the beginning of the year. These meetings have proved essential for collecting and analysing statistical information from both national and international sources, as well as for coordinating the technical work related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators made available by the member states. The joint effort has also enabled further discussion, analysis and alignment of the previously defined data collection criteria, thereby strengthening the coherence and methodological robustness of the publication. Significant progress has been made in consolidating the information from all countries into a common database, in line with the methodological harmonisation agreed upon by the NSIs. The challenges identified have been largely overcome, with all countries committed to improving the availability of indicators, reinforcing the consistency and quality of the publication. The Portuguese-speaking countries remain committed to enhancing the availability of indicators and to implementing the upcoming phases of this important collective project. after which efforts will focus on the analysis, discussion, definition, and final structuring of the publication. COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 6 Cooperação com os Países de Língua Portuguesa Cooperation with Portuguese-speaking Countries INE acolhe visitas de Angola e Cabo Verde sobre Conceitos Estatísticos | Statistics Portugal welcomes visits from Angola and Cabo Verde on Statistical Concepts O INE de Portugal acolheu os INEs de Angola e de Cabo Verde em visitas sobre Conceitos estatísticos, entre 17 e 21 de novembro, ao abrigo do Programa Estatístico da CPLP. A melhoria dos Conceitos Estatísticos nacionais dos países da CPLP, através do seu reforço institucional, constitui um dos objetivos do Projeto de Classificações, Conceitos e Nomenclaturas. No âmbito deste projeto, realizaram-se duas visitas de trabalho em simultâneo, destinadas aos INEs de Angola e de Cabo Verde, para os quais este domínio é prioritário. A realização conjunta das visitas possibilitou a troca de experiências e a partilha de boas práticas, desafios e lições aprendidas entre todos os participantes. As visitas foram conduzidas pela responsável técnica pelo domínio dos Conceitos do Programa Estatístico da CPLP, Luísa Saraiva, do Serviço de Planeamento, Controlo e Qualidade, com o apoio do Serviço de Relações Externas e Cooperação (Conceição Veiga, Carolina Fresta Santos, e Liussakara Daio) do INE de Portugal. Da parte do INE de Angola participaram Maria Flora Artur e André Oliveira, e do lado do INE de Cabo Verde os participantes foram Clodomir Pereira e Danilton Tavares. Estas ações permitiram dar continuidade técnica aos trabalhos previamente desenvolvidos em formato virtual, com o objetivo de apoiar os INEs na definição de terminologias específicas, adaptadas a cada contexto nacional. Os participantes foram sensibilizados para a necessidade de integrar os conceitos nos respetivos Sistemas de Metainformação e suportes de recolha, bem como para a relevância de criar repositórios digitais dedicados a esta informação. Improving the national Statistical Concepts of CPLP countries, through their institutional strengthening, is one of the objectives of the Classifications, Concepts and Nomenclatures Project. Under this project, two simultaneous working visits were carried out for the NSIs of Angola and Cape Verde, who have prioritised this domain. The joint visits enabled to exchange experiences and share best practices, challenges, and lessons learned among all participants. The visits were led by the technical expert responsible for the Concepts domain of the CPLP Statistical Programme, Luísa Saraiva, from the Planning, Control and Quality Unit, with the support of the External Relations and Cooperation Unit (Conceição Veiga, Carolina Fresta Santos, and Liussakara Daio) from Statistics Portugal. Maria Flora Artur and André Oliveira took part on behalf of NSI of Angola, while Clodomir Pereira and Danilton Tavares were the participants from NSI of Cabo Verde. These activities made it possible to continue the technical work previously developed in virtual format, with the aim of supporting the NSIs in defining specific terminologies adapted to each national context. Participants were encouraged to integrate the concepts into their respective Metadata Systems and data collection tools, as well as to recognise the importance of creating dedicated digital repositories for this information. Foi reforçada a importância de conceitos bem formulados e adaptados aos contextos nacionais, para o sucesso das operações estatísticas. Sublinhou-se igualmente o papel fundamental de sistemas de metainformação robustos para assegurar dados com qualidade, fiabilidade e relevância. The importance of well-formulated concepts, adapted to national contexts, for the success of statistical operations was emphasised. The fundamental role of robust metadata systems in ensuring high-quality, reliable and relevant data was also underlined. Remote technical support is expected to continue and future actions in this statistical area will be announced in due course. A 16 de setembro, o INE de Portugal (INE) participou numa reunião virtual exploratória sobre dados administrativos com o INE de Angola (INE-AO) e o Banco Mundial, no âmbito de um projeto para desenvolver a capacidade estatística angolana. O Banco Mundial apresentou o projeto para o INE-AO, que abrange a Reforma Institucional para Reforço da Capacidade Estatística e a Modernização Institucional. O foco do encontro foi a primeira componente, que visa melhorar o uso dos dados administrativos em Angola. O projeto prevê o inventário e avaliação dos dados disponíveis na administração pública e o aprimoramento de produtos estatísticos de base administrativa. O INE partilhou a sua experiência na integração de dados, destacando a Infraestrutura Nacional de Dados, um projeto estratégico para o uso mais intensivo e integrado de dados administrativos. Foi ilustrado o sucesso da Informação Empresarial Simplificada (IES), que permitiu ao INE prescindir do Inquérito Anual às Empresas e reduziu significativamente a carga burocrática para as empresas. A condução técnica da reunião foi assegurada pela Diretora do Serviço de Dados Administrativos e Empresariais, Sofia Rodrigues, coadjuvada pelo Serviço de Relações Externas e Cooperação. Em nome da delegação angolana e dos responsáveis do projeto, a Diretora Geral-Adjunta do INE de Angola para o Pelouro Económico e Financeiro, Anália Prata, agradeceu a colaboração do INE, considerando-a de grande utilidade para o projeto em curso. On 16 September, Statistics Portugal (INE) participated in a virtual exploratory meeting on administrative data with the National Statistical Institute of Angola (NSI-AO) and the World Bank. This was part of a World Bank project aimed at developing Angolan statistical capacity. The World Bank presented the project for NSI-AO, which covers the Institutional Reform for Strengthening Statistical Capacity and Institutional Modernisation. The meeting focused on the first component, which aims to improve the use of administrative data in Angola. The project includes, among other activities, the inventory and evaluation of data available in public administration and the enhancement of administrative-based statistical products. INE shared its experience in data integration, highlighting the National Data Infrastructure. This strategic project aims for the more intensive and integrated use of administrative data. The success of the Simplified Business Information was also illustrated, which allowed for INE to stop conducting the Annual Business Survey and significantly reduced bureaucracy for enterprises. The Head of the Administrative and Business Data Unit from INE, Sofia Rodrigues, provided the relevant technical information, assisted by the External Relations and Cooperation Unit. On behalf of the Angolan delegation and the project leads, the Deputy Director-General for Financial and Economic Affairs of NSI Angola, Anália Prata, thanked Statistics Portugal for the collaboration, deeming it highly useful for the ongoing project. COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 8 A 30 de outubro, o INE participou remotamente numa sessão do Diálogo Político de Alto Nível sobre a criação de uma Conta Satélite de Turismo (CST) em São Tomé e Príncipe. O evento foi coorganizado pela UNECA (Comissão Económica das Nações Unidas para África), em parceria com o Governo de São Tomé e Príncipe e com o Escritório do Coordenador Residente das Nações Unidas (RCO), que convidaram o INE de Portugal a partilhar a sua experiência na compilação e divulgação da CST. O turismo é um pilar essencial da estratégia de diversificação económica de S. Tomé e Príncipe. No entanto, a contribuição do setor para a economia permanecia subestimada devido a limitações estatísticas e de informação. Para colmatar essa lacuna estatística, o Governo de São Tomé e Príncipe, em parceria com a UNECA e o RCO, desenvolveu a sua primeira CST – um instrumento analítico que permite quantificar e enquadrar o impacto económico do turismo no sistema de contas nacionais. O projeto incluiu workshops técnicos em 2024 e 2025, culminando num workshop de validação (29 de outubro) e no Diálogo Político de Alto Nível (30 de outubro), no qual o INE participou remotamente. Teresa Hilário, perita do Serviço de Contas Satélite e Avaliação da Qualidade das Contas Nacionais do INE, apresentou a definição e cronologia da CST em Portugal, os resultados mais recentes (dados 2021-2024 na nova base 2021 das Contas Nacionais) e considerações sobre desafios futuros, incluindo fontes de informação e o seu papel enquanto input na medição da sustentabilidade no turismo. O Diálogo de Alto Nível destacou a importância de: • Institucionalizar as estatísticas do turismo através de um Comité dedicado; • Mobilizar parcerias financeiras e técnicas de forma a integrar os resultados da CST no quadro de planeamento nacional; • Promover um compromisso de políticas orientadas pela informação estatística; e • Alinhar as políticas do setor com a Agenda 2030 para o Desenvolvimento Sustentável. On 30th October, Statistics Portugal participated remotely in a session of the High-Level Political Dialogue regarding the creation of a Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) in São Tomé and Príncipe. The event was co-organised by UNECA (United Nations Economic Commission for Africa), in partnership with the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe and the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (RCO), which invited Statistics Portugal to share its experience in compiling and disseminating the TSA. Tourism is a key pillar of São Tomé and Príncipe’s economic diversification strategy. However, the sector’s contribution to the economy remained underestimated due to statistical and information limitations. To address this statistical gap, the Government of São Tomé and Príncipe, in partnership with UNECA and the RCO, developed its first TSA – an analytical tool that allows the economic impact of tourism to be quantified and framed within the national accounts system. The project included technical workshops in 2024 and 2025, culminating in a validation workshop (29th October) and the High-Level Political Dialogue (30th October), in which Statistics Portugal participated remotely. Teresa Hilário, expert from Statistics Portugal’s Unit on Satellite Accounts and Quality Assessment of National Accounts, presented the definition and timeline of the TSA in Portugal, its most recent results (2021-2024 data based on the new 2021 National Accounts base), and considerations on future challenges, such as information sources and the TSA’s role as an input for measuring sustainability in tourism. The High-Level Dialogue emphasised the importance of: • Institutionalising tourism statistics through a dedicated Committee; • Mobilising financial and technical partnerships to integrate TSA results into the national planning framework; • Promoting a commitment to policies guided by statistical information; • Aligning sector policies with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 9 INEs de Portugal e Cabo Verde retomam cooperação em matéria de IPC | NSIs of Portugal and Cabo Verde resume cooperation on CPI O Instituto Nacional de Estatística de Cabo Verde (INE-CV) e o INE de Portugal (INE-PT) realizaram, a 13 de novembro, um encontro virtual focado no processo de mudança do ano base do Índice de Preços no Consumidor (IPC) do INECV para 2023. O INE-CV solicitou o apoio do seu homólogo português, com base na cooperação de longa data entre as duas instituições nesta matéria, concluída em 2023. A equipa do INE-PT disponibilizou-se a fornecer apoio na componente metodológica da mudança de base. O INE-CV pretende implementar e divulgar o novo IPC em 2026, prevendo-se, para breve, a realização de novas sessões de esclarecimento, a breve trecho. Dada a relevância estratégica do tema para o INE-CV, participaram na reunião o respetivo Presidente, João de Pina Cardoso, e a Vogal da Direção, Annie Tavares Sanches, acompanhados por membros da Divisão de Estatísticas Empresariais e Índices. Da parte do INE-PT, o Departamento de Contas Nacionais assegurou a condução técnica do encontro, representado pelo respetivo Diretor, Pedro Oliveira, e pelo Diretor do Serviço de Estatísticas de Preços, Vítor Mendonça, com o apoio do Serviço de Relações Externas e Cooperação. NSI-CV requested support from its Portuguese counterpart, building on their long-standing cooperation in this area, which concluded in 2023. NSI-PT offered to provide support on the methodological component of the CPI updating process. NSI-CV intends to implement and disseminate the new CPI in 2026, with further briefing sessions expected in the near future. Given the strategic relevance of this topic for NSI-CV, the meeting was attended by its President, João de Pina Cardoso, and Board Member, Annie Tavares Sanches, supported by colleagues from the Business Statistics and Indices Division. From Statistics Portugal, the Department of National Accounts ensured the technical lead of the meeting, represented by its Director, Pedro Oliveira, and by the Director of the Price Statistics Unit, Vítor Mendonça, with support from the External Relations and Cooperation Unit. A conferência anual dos DGINS (Directeurs Généraux des Instituts Nationaux de Statistique) reuniu líderes do Eurostat, dos Institutos Nacionais de Estatística e de organizações internacionais, centrando-se nas estatísticas do turismo, com destaque para a sustentabilidade, inovação e modernização dos dados. O Presidente do CD do INE, António Rua, moderou uma sessão dedicada a práticas inovadoras e ao uso de fontes de dados alternativas. Este congresso bienal, organizado pelo International Statistical Institute (ISI), reuniu mais de 2.000 participantes de todos os continentes e aproximadamente 250 comunicações científicas. A delegação portuguesa refletiu o cariz estratégico e multidisciplinar do evento, incluindo o Presidente do Conselho Diretivo, António Rua; o Vogal do Conselho Diretivo, Jorge Magalhães; o Diretor do Departamento de Recolha e Gestão de Dados, Paulo Saraiva; o Diretor do Serviço de Metodologia, Pedro Campos; e o Diretor do Serviço de Difusão, José Pinto Martins. Statistics Portugal actively participated in the 65th World Statistics Congress (ISI 2025), the largest global event dedicated to Statistics, which took place in The Hague, Netherlands, from 5 to 9 October 2025. This biennial congress, organised by the International Statistical Institute (ISI), brought together over 2,000 participants from every continent and approximately 250 scientific papers. COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 12 Cooperação Internacional Worldwide Cooperation Um dos momentos de maior destaque da presença do INE foi a organização de uma sessão, intitulada “Harmony in Data: Bridging Quality and Statistical Literacy”. A sessão foi organizada e moderada por José Pinto Martins, e contou igualmente com a participação de Pedro Campos, enquanto orador. Para além de duas comunicações, uma das quais do INE (“Statistical literacy and quality – two sides of the same coin”, por Pedro Campos e Pinto Martins), e outra da autoria do Professor John Bailer (Universidade de Miami, EUA), “Engaging broader audiences in statistics with stories”, a sessão foi enriquecida por arguentes de referência: Professor Ido Gal (Universidade de Haifa, Israel), especialista em literacia estatística, e Avis Benes (Diretora da Unidade de Estratégia, programação e governança do Sistema Estatístico Europeu, Eurostat), que ofereceu uma perspetiva europeia sobre os desafios estratégicos da comunicação e da qualidade estatística. Adicionalmente, Pedro Campos integrou o programa científico como arguente noutra sessão, dedicada à análise de novas abordagens estatísticas no apoio à formulação de políticas públicas baseadas em dados. A participação do INE no ISI 2025 permitiu dar visibilidade ao trabalho técnico desenvolvido em Portugal e acompanhar de perto os avanços tecnológicos e metodológicos do setor, em áreas críticas como a inteligência artificial, os sistemas de qualidade, a governança dos dados e a comunicação com os utilizadores. COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 28 13 Cooperação Internacional Worldwide Cooperation INE no evento “SDG Flag Day – Waves of Change” | Statistics Portugal in the “SDG Flag Day – Waves of Change” event No Dia Nacional da Sustentabilidade (25 de setembro), o Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE) participou no evento “SDG Flag Day – Waves of Change”, realizado na Casa do Impacto, em Lisboa, e organizado pela UN Global Compact Network Portugal. A iniciativa integrou-se na campanha internacional SDG Flag Day, que celebra o aniversário da adoção da Agenda 2030 das Nações Unidas para os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS). O encontro constituiu um espaço de reflexão estratégica sobre a concretização das metas dos ODS em Portugal, reunindo representantes de diversas instituições públicas e privadas comprometidas com a sustentabilidade. Em representação do INE, Conceição Veiga, Diretora de Relações Externas e Cooperação, apresentou a comunicação “Medir para transformar – Portugal e os ODS”, integrada no painel “Retratos e indicadores da sustentabilidade”. A intervenção destacou o trabalho desenvolvido pelo INE na monitorização dos ODS da Agenda 2030, com especial enfoque nos avanços mais recentes, nomeadamente a publicação, em junho de 2025, da mais recente edição dos indicadores globais dos ODS disponíveis para Portugal. On September 25th – National Sustainability Day, Statistics Portugal took part in the event “SDG Flag Day – Waves of Change”, held at Casa do Impacto, in Lisbon, and organized by the UN Global Compact Network Portugal. The initiative was part of the international SDG Flag Day campaign, which celebrates the anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The event served as a strategic forum for reflection on the national implementation of the SDG targets, bringing together representatives from various institutions and companies committed to sustainability. Representing Statistics Portugal, Conceição Veiga, Director of External Relations and Cooperation, delivered a presentation entitled “Measuring to Transform – Portugal and the SDGs”, as part of the panel “Portraits and Indicators of Sustainability”. Her presentation highlighted the ongoing work of Statistics Portugal in monitoring the SDGs under the UN 2030 Agenda, with a particular focus on recent developments, including the June 2025 publication featuring the latest set of global SDG indicators available for Portugal.

On 17 and 18 September 2025, Statistics Portugal participated in the annual meeting of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES) Steering Group on Statistics for SDGs (UNECE), hosted by Statistics Spain at its headquarters in Madrid. The meeting, presided over by the Steering Group Co-Chair Ana Carmen Vinuesa, focused on monitoring sustainable development, with a growing emphasis on “Beyond GDP” metrics and the group’s role in the post-2030 period. Statistics Portugal’s participation, ensured by Carolina Fresta Santos from the External Relations and Cooperation Unit, was highlighted by the co-chairmanship of the Task Team on Communication (TTCOM), alongside Statistics Poland (Olga Świerkot-Strużewska). • The results of the TTCOM’s 2025 communication fortnights were highlighted, and the team’s contribution to the chapter on Progress Communication within the new Addendum to the Roadmap on Statistics for SDGs was noted. • The TTCOM Co-Chairs will also moderate a panel on Communication at the UNECE Expert Meeting on Statistics for SDGs, scheduled for April 2026. Other Central Topics: • A key focus was the ongoing work of the Task Team on Progress Measurement (TTPM), chaired by Mary Smyth (CSO Ireland), which aims to draft an Addendum to the Roadmap providing practical and methodological guidance for measuring and communicating SDG progress. • The group further stressed the need for NSOs (National Statistical Offices) to be given a strong mandate to coordinate post-2030 statistical monitoring, similar to the role acknowledged in the statistical follow-up of the SDGs.

Esta efeméride, promovida pelas Nações Unidas a cada cinco anos, teve como lema: “Driving change with quality statistics and data for everyone”. O INE juntouse às celebrações desta importante data, através da organização de uma sessão nacional e da participação ativa na comemoração global, organizada pelas Nações Unidas. O Dia Mundial da Estatística é uma iniciativa global que visa destacar o valor das estatísticas oficiais enquanto pilar da democracia, da boa governação e do desenvolvimento sustentável. O Secretário-Geral das Nações Unidas, António Guterres, assinalou a ocasião sublinhando que “sociedades informadas dependem de dados de qualidade para enfrentar os desafios globais, da mudança climática às desigualdades sociais”. Celebração nacional A nível nacional, o ano de celebração do Dia Mundial da Estatística coincidiu com o 90.º aniversário do INE, possibilitando um balanço sobre o longo percurso da instituição no serviço à sociedade através de estatísticas fiáveis, relevantes e de qualidade. World Statistics Day is a global initiative that aims to highlight the value of official statistics as a pillar of democracy, good governance, and sustainable development. The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, marked the occasion by emphasising that informed societies depend on quality data “to confront increasingly inter-connected global challenges – from climate change to rising inequalities”. National Celebration At the national level, this year’s celebration of World Statistics Day coincided with INE’s 90th anniversary, providing an opportunity to reflect on the institution’s long history of service to society through reliable, relevant, and high-quality statistics. The central moment of the celebrations was the national webinar, “Quality statistics and data for everyone,” promoted by INE and open to the public. O Presidente e a Vogal do Conselho Diretivo do INE, António Rua e Maria João Zilhão, respetivamente, contribuíram com mensagem gravadas, nas quais explicaram a importância desta efeméride, a relevância dos princípios fundamentais das estatísticas oficiais e papel crucial que estas desempenham na tomada de decisões informadas. O INE partilhou igualmente vídeos dos seus colaboradores a explicarem conceitos estatísticos ou a natureza da sua atividade profissional, evidenciando o compromisso com uma comunicação clara e eficaz, aproximando as estatísticas oficiais dos utilizadores e da sociedade civil.
