COOPSTAT NEWS N.º 23 10 Cooperação com os Países de Língua Portuguesa Cooperation with Portuguese-speaking Countries Na sessão dedicada aos Princípios Fundamentais das Estatísticas Oficiais, foi salientada a sua importância, pertinência e atualidade, nomeadamente quanto às questões associadas à Independência e Imparcialidade, abordadas nas apresentações dos INEs de Cabo Verde (INE-CV), Guiné-Bissau (INE-GB) e Moçambique (INE-MZ). Foi neste âmbito sublinhada a importância de manter a independência e imparcialidade das estatísticas oficiais, bem como o papel dos INEs na salvaguarda desses mesmos princípios, assegurando que todas as decisões são regidas por considerações estritamente técnicas e profissionais, honrando o direito dos cidadãos à informação e reconhecendo as estatísticas como um bem público. Na última sessão do seminário, subordinada à atual ronda censitária, foram partilhadas as experiências de implementação e preparação desta operação pelos Institutos de Estatística de Brasil (IBGE), São Tomé e Príncipe (INE-STP) e Timor-Leste (DGE-TL). In the session dedicated to the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, their importance, relevance, and timeliness were highlighted, particularly on issues associated with independence and impartiality, addressed in the presentations from NSIs of Cabo Verde (INE-CV), Guinea-Bissau (INE- GB) and Mozambique (INE-MZ). The importance of maintaining the independence and impartiality of official statistics was underlined, as well as the role of NSIs in safeguarding these same principles, ensuring that all decisions are governed by strictly technical and professional considerations, thus, honouring the citizens’ right to information and recognizing statistics as a public good. In the last session of the seminar, on the current census round, the experiences of implementing and preparing this operation were shared by the Statistical Institutes of Brazil (IBGE), São Tomé and Príncipe (INE-STP) and TimorLeste (DGE-TL).
