2022 Edition 32 • The main motivations for travelling were: » Leisure, recreation or holidays: 5.4million trips (+20.9% compared to the same period last year and -6.2% compared to the 3rd quarter of 2019); » Visiting familyor friends: 1.9million trips (+24.4%compared to the samequarter of theprevious year and -16.2%compared to the same period of 2019); • Free private accommodation remained the main choice of residents for their overnight stays, with 56.6% of the total, while hotels and similar registered 29.3%; • Each resident tourist slept, on average, 8.24 nights on the trips made (8.41 nights in the 3rd quarter of 2020 and 7.80 nights in the same period of 2019). The highest average duration was recorded in the trips during August (9.26 nights).
