FEBRUARY 2022 9 MONTHLY STATISTICAL BULLETIN Retail trade sales slowed down in January In January 2022, the following year-on-year rates of change were recorded in the Retail Trade sector: • Turnover Index1: 10.4% (7.4% in December); This acceleration partly reflects a base effect, given that January 2021, particularly in food trade, was marked by the effect of the general confinement due to the worsening pandemic situation, with the index then contracting by 9.9%; • Employment index: 4.0% (3.9% in December); • Wages and salaries index: 6.8% (6.3% in December); • Index of hours worked2: 7.1% (3.7% in December).
