This publication analyses the performance of 189 indicators from the global list of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for Portugal, covering the period from 2015 to the most recent year with available data. All SDG are briefly analysed in terms of their evolution and performance in Portugal.

This publication joins the Fisherman’s national day (May 31th), providing an overview of the fisheries in Portugal, as well as for some branches of national economy related to this sector. It includes data related to the landings of fresh and chilled fishery products, breakdown by ports and species, market and structures, the fishery activity, fishery population, the fish and aquaculture processing industry, the international trade and fish stocks.

It also includes a brief description of the data sources as well as the concepts for statistical purposes and classifications used.

The objectives of using CAE-Rev.4 include:

• classifying statistical units producing goods and services (whether profit-making or not) according to their economic activity;

• grouping and organising statistical information in a coordinated and systematic manner, by economic activity, across various sectors (production, employment, energy, investment, etc.);

• enabling statistical comparability at national, EU and global levels.

The changes compared to the previous version (CAE-Rev.3) allow for an organisation of economic and social statistical information that is better suited to the current national economic reality, as well as reflecting the latest structural, scientific and technological developments and harmonisation with the corresponding European (NACE Rev. 2.1) and United Nations (ISIC/CITA-Rev.5) classifications.

The publication is organized into eight chapters: education, employment, business sector, earnings, international trade, consumer price index of goods and services, public financing and federated sport, going through a set of themes in the economic and social context in which the sports activities are developed.
