Concepts
  • SEWER DRAINAGE SYSTEM:  Set of infrastructures and equipments designed to collect the sewage produced by a community and drain it to a proper treatment facility in order that it is discharged in soil or water bodies in a way that it does not change existing environmental conditions. A complete system includes drainage pipes or net, intermediate discharger, pumping station, interceptor, wastewater treatment plant and final discharger.
  • TREATED WASTEWATER:  Wastewater after treatment of which is carried out in wastewater treatment plants (Portuguese acronym: ETAR) or in municipal septic tanks.
