Concepts
  • RESIDENT POPULATION:  Set of persons who, regardless of being present or absent in a given housing unit at the moment of observation, have lived in the place of their usual residence for a continuous period of 12 months prior to the moment of observation, or have arrived to the place of their usual residence during the period of 12 months prior to the moment of observation, with the purpose of living there for a year, at least.
  • AT-RISK-OF-POVERTY THRESHOLD:  Income threshold under which a household is considered to be living in risk of poverty. The European Commission settled its value as 60% of the median national equivalent income.
  • REFERENCE PERIOD:  The length of time for which data are collected, e.g. a specific day, month or year.

Observations The methodology for obtaining the disposable income, which is now including pensions from individual private plans, has changed in the current exercise, as introduced by Eurostat.. In consequence, all indicators were revised in order to take this new and more extensive version of the households¿ disposable income, with a retrospective impact to the whole series.
