The ratio of the number of deaths of children aged under one week (7 days) during a specified period of time, usually a calendar year, to the number of live births in that same period (usually expressed as the number of deaths of infants aged under 7 days per 1,000 (10^3) live births).

Where: D-7(0,t) = Infant deaths with lees than 7 days old between the moments 0 and t;
LB(0,t) = Live births between the moments 0 and t;
