DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Act of inflicting, repeatedly or not, physical or psychic maltreatments, including corporal punishment, deprivation of freedom and sexual offenses to: a partner or ex-partner of other or of the same sex, married or not with whom the aggressor maintains or had maintained a relationship similar to the wedded, even if without cohabitation; a progenitor of a common descendant in 1st degree; any cohabitant person, particularly defenseless, due to age, disability, disease, pregnancy or economical dependence.

PRISON SENTENCE: Main criminal sanction corresponding to the deprivation of liberty for a limited period of time with the aim of preventing future crimes and reintegrating the offender into society.

ECONOMIC TERRITORY: Territory that consists on: (a) the geographic territory administered by a government within which persons, goods, services and capital move freely; (b) any free zones, including bonded warehouses and factories under customs control; (c) the national air-space, territorial waters and the continental shelf lying in international waters, over which the country enjoys exclusive rights; (d) territorial enclaves (i.e. geographic territories situated in the rest of the world and used, under international treaties or agreements between States, by general government agencies of the country (embassies, consulates, military bases, scientific bases, etc.); (e) deposits of oil, natural gas, etc., in international waters outside the continental shelf of the country, worked by units resident in the territory as defined in the preceding subparagraphs.

PAROLE: Release of an offender from serving the final part of a prison sentence, based on a social responsible behaviour, and compulsory for all prisoners serving terms of over six years when five-sixths of the sentence have been completed.
