Concepts
  • PRIMARY DESTINATION (OF JOURNEY):  Primary destination is associated with the main reason for the journey. The criteria for defining the primary destination are: 1) the place that a visitor considers his/her primary destination (motivation destination); 2) the place where most nights were spent (time destination); 3) the farthest place visited (distance destination).
  • OVERNIGHT STAY:  Overnight stay in an establishment providing accommodation, considered in relation to each person and for a period of between 12:00 p.m. of a day and 12:00 p.m. of the following day.
  • REFERENCE PERIOD:  Period to which the information refers and which may be a specific day or a time interval (month, fiscal year, calendar year, among others).
  • TOURIST:  Visitor who stays at least one night in a collective or private accommodation in the place/country visited.
