Observations The area values were calculated from cartographic units and the Official Administrative Map of Portugal in PT-TM06-ETRS89 Reference System for Continente, in PTRA08 - UTM zone 28N Reference System for R. A. da Madeira and in ITRF93 - UTM zone 26N and zone 25N for R. A. dos Açores. The "Total" contains the Protected areas surface beyond included area in the official territorial units.Specifically, th e "Total" includes also the marine protected areas located outside the exclusive economic zone and under management of the R. A. dos Açores, according to the Regional Law Decret No.28/2011/A.
