  • MEDICAL APPOINTMENT:  Care provided by a medical doctor to an individual. It may consist of clinical observation, diagnosis, therapeutic prescription, counselling or checking of developments in his/her health conditions.
  • SPECIALTY APPOINTMENT:  'A medical appointment in a primary health centre or hospital rendered within the scope of a hospital-based specialty or sub-specialty, which must only take place upon reference or recommendation by a medical doctor of a different specialty.
