Transport and communications statistics - 2013

Summary

In this publication Statistics Portugal disseminates the main statistical findings on the activity of the Transport and Communications sectors in 2013:

Railway transport - data presented results from surveys conducted by Statistics Portugal, namely in the areas of railway infrastructure, railway equipment and traffic, and also underground systems (Lisbon and Oporto); Road transport - statistics concerning road networks (IMT/InIR), road accidents (ANSR and Comandos Regionais da PSP Açores e Madeira), registration of vehicles (IMT), fuel consumption on road transport (DGEG),  data on sales of vehicles (ACAP), as well as the results from the “Survey on Carriage of Goods by Road” and the “Survey on Road Transport of Passengers” (ITRP), carried out by Statistics Portugal; Sea and water inland transport - statistical findings are obtained from surveys to administrations of commercial ports and to entities responsible for passenger river transport; Air transport - data presented is the result of statistics for air traffic control, airport and air transport operators activities (INAC and ANA SA); Transport by pipeline – these statistics concern gas pipeline transport (REN Gasodutos SA) and oil pipeline transport (CLC SA).

This publication also disseminates statistical data regarding international trade by modes of transport, produced by Statistics Portugal, and also presents a compilation of data on Telecommunications and Postal Services, with ANACOM – Autoridade Nacional de Comunicações as the main source of information.
