The purpose of this publication is to give the reader a picture of the Fisheries, as well as from some branches of National Economy related to this sector for the year 2004. It includes information related to the landings of fresh and chilled fishery products by ports, species and NUTS II, the fishery activity, the number of fishery workers, the international trade, and the fish and aquaculture processing industry, presented in 41 tables.
The most important results of year 2004, comparing with 2003, show: a decrease of fresh and chilled fishery products landings in national ports; a decrease of the average prices in the Mainland; a slight decrease of the number of fishing boats; an increase of the number of registered fisher and a decrease of 16.9% in the Fishery Income, at current prices.
