Summary
In the last three months (August to October 2010), exports increased by 15.4% and imports by 7.1%, comparing to the same period in the previous year (August to October 2009), leading to a decrease in the deficit of the trade balance by EUR 285.9 millions.
Due to the external energy dependence of Portugal, energy products are one of the main goods imported. The trade balance of energy products had a deficit equivalent to EUR 4 218.3 millions and a coverage rate of 30.2% from January to September 2010.
