Summary
The Portuguese Consumer Price Index (CPI) went up 0.5% in March 2010 when compared with March 2009. Excluding energy and unprocessed food, the annual rate remained at -0.4%. On a monthly basis, the CPI increased to 1.1% (0.1% in February 2010 and 0.8% in March 2009). The CPI 12-month average rate of change remained unchanged in March ( 0.8%).
In March, the Portuguese Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) annual inflation rate was 0.6% (0.2% in February), 0.9 percentage points (p.p.) below the rate estimated by Eurostat for the Euro area.
