Passenger transport still remains at a lower level than in 2019 - 3rd Quarter 2022

Summary

In the 3rd quarter of 2022, national airports handled 18,5 million passengers, corresponding to an increase of 79.4% compared to the same period of 2021. Compared to the Q3 2019, there was a decrease of 1.5%.

In the same quarter of 2022, 44,6 million passengers were transported by train and 54,8 million by metro (+35.9% and +50.8%, respectively, in comparison to the same period of 2021). Compared to the same period of 2019, there were decreases of 3.2% and 15.5%, respectively.

In the 3rd quarter of 2022, the transport of passengers by inland waterways increased by 24.7% compared to the Q3 2021 (+62.5% in Q2 2022), reaching 6.0 million passengers and decreased by 16.0% compared to Q3 2019.

Regarding freight transport: by air there was an increase of 16.1% compared to Q3 2021 (+8.0% vis-à-vis Q3 2019); by rail transport there was a decrease of 10.7% (-2.1% in the previous quarter and -1.5% compared to Q3 2019); by sea there was an increase of 6.0% compared to Q3 2021 (+1.0% in the 2nd Q 2022 and +7.1% compared to Q3 2019); and transport by road continued to decline (-3.3% in comparison to 2021 and -6.5% vis-à-vis 2019) reaching 34.5 million tonnes.
