More tourist trips were made, but with less overnight stays and fewer destinations abroad - 3rd Quarter 2012

Summary
In the 3rd quarter 2012, 5.9 million tourist trips were made by residents in Portugal, 10.3% more than in the same period of 2011. In contrast, the average stay decreased by 12.9% with a resulting outcome of 6 nights in the quarter under review, whereas in the same period of the previous year the average stay stood at 6.9 nights. The number of overnight stays associated to tourist trips decreased by 3.8% in year-on-year terms, totalling 35.7 million, so did tourist trips with a destination abroad (-11.9%).
