Summary
The movement of goods in national maritime ports accounted for a reversing trend on the previous growth and recorded a decrease in the number (-8.4%) and size (-3.7%) of commercial vessels that have entered the ports in the 3rd quarter of 2012, as well as in the movement of loaded and unloaded goods (-6.3%).
In railway mode, the tonnage of freight transported accounted for a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%, but the volume of transport (Tkm) grew by 7.8%.
The movement of passengers kept declining, with decreases of 11.9% in inland waterways, 3.1% in Porto light railway system, 14.8% in Lisbon light railway system and 13.2% in heavy railway. Only air transport mode recorded a growth, with increases in the main airports of the Mainland but decreases in Madeira and Azores.
