Summary
In 2009, only the region of Lisbon and Autonomous Region of Madeira were above the European average of GDP per capita in Purchasing Power Parities (PPP). GDP per capita of the Portuguese NUTS 2 regions of Norte, Centro, Alentejo, Autonomous Region of Azores, Algarve, Autonomous Region of Madeira and Lisbon represented, respectively, 65%, 67%, 74%, 77%, 87%, 105%, 110% of the European Union (EU27) average of GDP per capita, whereas that percentage was 80% for the  country, as a whole.
